Friendships and Fellowship

"Our Mission is to promote quilting education through speakers and workshops; to support our community through charity; and to encourage friendships and fellowship among our members."

Friendship/fellowship is a part of every event and activity.  However, there are some that particularly focus in this area:

Stash Bazaars

In the fall and spring CCQ host bazaars are fun public events! Members rent tables and sell their “extra” fabric, tool, and stash items for unbelievably low prices! It's a great way to turn those tired "stash" fabric and items into new fabric and quilting toys.  The public setting provides an opportunity to show others what it means to quilt and be part of an active, fun guild.

Each fall and spring we offer a retreat to our members. Retreats are a time for members to quilt “without distraction” if they so choose. Each retreat also offers a variety of classes, activities, and field trips for attendees. Housing and food is great! A retreat is a wonderful way to “getaway from it all” and be with like-minded friends in a beautiful setting.  Click on the title above or the dropdown menu at the top to visit a page with pictures and descriptions of some of our Retreats.

This committee has the responsibility to setup for General Meetings.  They assign members to bring treats and serve them during the social hour preceding the meeting.  What better way to meet most of the guild members than to feed them? They also take care of clean up when we finish.

General Meetings

During Social Hour there are many activies available as well as time to visit with all your friends ... and meet some new ones.

Meeting Night Activites

Activites that generate fun and excitement on General Meeting night may include:

  • Charms/Strips - the committee chooses a theme for 5 inch charm packs and/or 2 1/2 inch strips and award bundles by drawing from those paticipating that night.
  • Fat Quarters - the committee chooses a theme for fat quarters, bundles them and awards the bundles by drawing from those paticipating that night.
  • Round Robin - the committee develops guidelines for that year's project. The project involves each participant starting a quilt at the first of the year. Each month the quilts are passed around to another particpant to add to the quilt. The committee coordinates the exchange at each General Meeting.
  • Secret Pal - Paticipants sign up at the beginning of the year for a secret gift exchange.  The committee facilitates the exchange at each General Meeting.
  • Three for One - the committee identifies a local quilt shop each month. They visit the shop and purchase three gift certificates. Usually the shop chips in with additional gifts... often a lot of gifts.  During the Social Hour, raffle tickets are sold, three for a dollar. Tickets are drawn and the prizes awarded at the end of the night.

Small Groups

Small groups of guild members gather outside of the monthly guild meetings to chat, sew together, share techniques and help and support each other. Many of the small groups are open to new members and it’s a great way to make friends and meet more guild members. During the past year, many of the small groups have moved to Zoom meetings as they have not been able to meet in person. Some of the groups are listed below, more details about all the small groups are available after joining.
